“In free governments, the rulers are the servants, and the people their superiors.” — Benjamin Franklin.
Putting an end to self serving career politicians who have turned public office into a lifelong paycheck is essential. Congress was never meant to be a career choice. Serving our nation and making America a better place for our children and future generations must always be the highest priority.
The longer politicians stay in Washington, the more disconnected they become from the people they represent. Extended time in office does not just create experience, it creates dependence on donors, lobbyists, party leadership, and the unelected power structure operating behind the scenes.
Rep. Lance Gooden once warned that long tenures deepen ties to special interests and fuel the D.C. swamp. He even proposed a three term limit. Today, he is running for term number five.
That reversal is not accidental. It is how the system protects itself. Career politicians quickly learn that there are different rules for different people. Everyday Americans face consequences, while the political class enjoys protection. Insider trading, regulatory favoritism, and selective enforcement have created a tiered justice system where power shields power.
This is how an elite ruling class forms. Not overnight, but through years of unchecked consolidation. When politicians stop fearing voters and start managing optics, accountability disappears.
Term limits are not extreme. They are a necessary safeguard to restore accountability and break the cycle that fuels corruption. I support strict term limits to ensure public office remains a place of service, not self preservation.
I will serve no more than two terms.
